Winter Wonders showcases everything you would expect from a Christmas market. Picture little chalets scattered around central Brussels, selling delicious treats, mulled wine, and holiday souvenirs. In addition, a big part of the event is festive attractions. Think music and light shows, concerts, art installations, a Ferris wheel, a skating rink, and more.

Visit the official Plaisirs d’Hiver website for all the essential details about the Brussels Christmas Market. There, you will find the event dates, the full program, and a very handy map. Entrance to the event is free. Simply pay for the treats and paid attractions you choose to enjoy.

If there was enough time to see only one attraction of Winter Wonders, it would be the Christmas Tree at the Grand-Place. It happened to be a wonderful starting point for the overall Brussels Christmas Market getaway. Visit the Grand-Place in the evening and enjoy the famous sound and light show with 360° projections throughout the square.

As dusk falls, the city transforms into a twinkling holiday-land. The next thing we did was stroll the streets of Brussels, admiring the decor. Even Manneken Pis is ready for festivities.

Adding to the charm, the Giant Ferris Wheel offers really nice views of Brussels and the Winter Wonders.

Of course, tasting little snacks and delicacies is an inseparable part of the whole experience.

Enjoy a glass of mulled wine and customize it with an extra shot of your favorite liqueur. Or, try something unexpected, like a glass of bubbly Chocolate in a Bottle. Or, head to one of the cozy estaminets for the famous Belgian beers. Careful though; they are quite strong.

As you savor the mulled wine and local beers, take your time to appreciate the flavors. Remember, it is not a race — enjoy each sip responsibly and be mindful of your surroundings.

Our weekend escape to Brussels coincided with what seemed like the entire world joining the Christmas market. Brace yourself — Winter Wonders can be bustling, especially if you have your heart set on a particular event. We hoped to catch the Cirque du Soleil show on ice, but the crowd around the rink made it challenging. Note to self: factor in the buzz when planning your itinerary for Brussels Christmas Market.
